I purchased this unit to cool my garage. I insulated the attic above the garage and applied foam board to the metal garbage door. The 10,000 BTU unit is probably one size too small for my two car garage, but it's big enough to seriously reduce the humidity and keeps the garage at 78-80 degrees on the hottest days, which is a major improvement. The unit is well made and works as advertised. The only thing that caught me by surpraise was how hot the exhaust was. In order to keep as much heat as possible out of the room your cooling, you need to keep the exhaust duct as short as possible unless you can insulate it.

I purchased this unit because I have a crank window so a window unit was not an option. It cools 600 sq. feet down to 72 fairly quickly with 85 degree outside temperatures. Easy setup but venting base kit did not fit my 20 inch wide window. I ended up cutting some of the base down to fit and it works fine. I did use some translucent duct tape to seal around the venting for a tighter fit. Cools very nicely for good sleep at night and the noise is just enough to drown out regular city street noise. Definitely worth the price.
